Overcome Fear and False Beliefs
I’ve not written for a while as I’ve been busy completing my final nutritional exam and course work.
I am, of course so happy to have it all completed after 3 years of hard work and can’t wait for the results!
BUT while this is an exciting period in my life with new opportunities and adventures ahead, with a new lifestyle and business, I’ve noticed a habitual emotion arise – FEAR
Fear, wrapped in a thick slice of self-doubt, topped with a sprinkling of ‘Who the hell do I think I am, trying this?!’
So instead of fully celebrating this moment, my mind has already kicked in with all the usual uncomfortable reactions and false beliefs I’ve been telling myself for years. Well that’s enough of that crap… I think this is the time to change….
Are you in a similar position? With fear and false belief sitting on your shoulder, whispering in your ear?
Why we have Fear and False Beliefs
As humans, we strive for unobtainable perfection in our lives and in ourselves.
We tell ourselves what we can and what we can’t do and they become beliefs. Many of our beliefs were instilled in us as we grew up, led by circumstances, situations beyond our control, comments from our peers, our family.
They become so ingrained into our reality that we make assumptions about our abilities – before we even TRY to do things …
We have the unique power of imagination. We can see ourselves doing things in our lives, imagine future outcomes, but what we see is not an objective reality – that is, a reality independent of our minds. What we see is personal. It’s not necessarily the TRUTH.
We create our own complex reality in our own minds. Then we passively experience it and simply just believe it. Get it?
Many of us shape our reality using fear – perfectly understandable as fear is a primal emotion and nature’s gift to protect us from danger BUT we tend to use it to avoid doing things and in building false beliefs about ourselves.
If we confront this fear and see it for what it is – a friend, here to protect us, but who is not always right – we can begin to see beyond our self-beliefs. We can become aware of the beliefs that we have formed in our own mind and so, have formed in our own reality….beliefs that are not true…beliefs that are simply false and just don’t serve us.
So when I became aware, through being more mindful, of my mind kicking in with my usual fears and long term beliefs, I decided to take back control and work on changing my reality.
How to Overcome Fear and False Beliefs
I spent some time sitting and confronting my fears and false beliefs. I had a good chat with my mate fear and listened to all the false beliefs she threw at me in a panic. But then I thought about where I want to be in a few months. What my life would be like. I used my human gift of imagination to visualise how I want to feel; physically and emotionally, imagining where I want to be, how I’d want a day to unfold , how I would spend my time, who I’d spend my time with, until I got a vision in my head that made me feel excited. You know that tickling in the gut kinda excited…
I found that my fear and false beliefs had diminished…I’d replaced them with excitement and desire. I’d created a focus to make the realty I wanted, not one that my mind believed was possible…and limiting.
I’m spending at least 5 minutes a day reconnecting with this vision … whilst sitting on the tube, the bus, just before I go to sleep…to retrain my mind with new beliefs and to overcome the fear.
You are the creator of your own reality…what false beliefs are you telling yourself?
Why not try visualising the reality you want? And do let me know how it works for you…
