Did you forget to do something today? Were you clumsy? Did you drop something? Trip over something? Knock something over?
How did you speak to yourself? Did you just laugh it off or did you get angry or irritated by yourself? Did the air turn blue with calling yourself a name or giving out an ‘Oh for f**** sake?!’ ?? Do you want to know how to be nicer to yourself?
How to be Nicer to Yourself Self-compassion
How often do you notice how you talk to yourself? I bet you are quite harsh on yourself sometimes, giving yourself a hard time…why is that? Would you talk to at a friend the same way? With the same tone of voice? Probably not….
This is where being aware of how we speak to ourselves and the language we use is so important. You are the only ‘you’ you have, and you’re an amazing, unique human being, so why be so critical of yourself?
It’s far healthier to be kinder to yourself! You would feel much calmer and open hearted if you were more compassionate towards your self – I learnt this the hard way by being constantly critical of myself , thinking my work wasn’t good enough, that I wasn’t good enough…that it drove me to high levels of STRESS and finally BURN OUT and CANCER DIAGNOSIS.
I can tell you from my heart that by offering yourself some self-compassion; being kinder to yourself and accepting yourself as you are, reduces stress in your life and increases your day to day calmness and happiness.
It’s not always easy to be self – compassionate, but if you can create this self -awareness and healthier habit I guarantee you it will change your life!
Don’t believe me? Well watch this FREE three-video series on self- compassion
Pioneering researcher in self compassion Dr Kristen Neff PhD has teamed up with Chris Germer PhD to create this inspiring series to spread the practice of self-compassion
Anyone can learn these self-compassion skills – and when you do it brings more calmness, grounding and even more love into your life. What’s not to like!?
I get nothing from promoting these guys – I just totally believe in what they’re doing and trying to achieve; an increase in self-awareness and self-compassion to enable us to be more compassionate with others…..
